Welcome to the weekly lentil anthracnose disease risk map, hosted by the Prairie Crop Disease Monitoring Network on behalf of Saskatchewan Pulse Growers. This map provides a weekly forecasted risk assessment of lentil anthracnose across Saskatchewan, based on recent historical weather data and short-term weather forecasts. It aims to help identify areas of higher disease risk by analyzing factors such as temperature, humidity, and precipitation levels.
While efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of this map, it is important to understand that weather-driven disease models are inherently uncertain, and predictions may not be 100% precise. The risk levels presented are based on the weather conditions at the time of the forecast and are subject to change as conditions evolve. For fields with irrigation, disease risk may differ from that shown on the map due to localized microclimates. Note: the map displays how conducive the weather conditions are – it does not consider staging or presence of spores.
This map is intended to serve as a guide for understanding potential disease pressure and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for making spray or other management decisions. Environmental conditions, crop management practices, and other variables may impact disease development beyond what is captured in the model. Always verify with field scouting and consult with agronomic advisors for tailored advice. Refer to the Fungicide Decision Support Checklist to determine field specific risk factors.
Information related to the lentil anthracnose weather-based risk maps is experimental, and is OFFERED TO THE PUBLIC FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Saskatchewan lentil anthracnose risk as of June 16, 2025
- As of June 16, 2025, recent weather conditions have increased the risk of lentil anthracnose in many lentil producing regions of Saskatchewan. Prior to this past weekend the risk was highest in the north and east-central regions of Saskatchewan
- However, rainfall over the weekend has increased the risk for the province as a whole with multiple regions being at medium to high risk from June 14-16, 2025
- Note, the lentil anthracnose risk maps are meant to provide a heads-up for Saskatchewan lentil producers regarding regions where risk is increased
- Saskatchewan lentil producers and crop consultants in areas at medium to high risk, based on weather conditions, are encouraged to look for signs of anthracnose, and this is especially critical for early-seeded lentil fields
- Prairie Crop Disease Monitoring Network (PCDMN) disease info cards are available to help identify anthracnose symptoms
- Full info card (2024)
- Two-page mini card (Spring 2025)
- Prairie Crop Disease Monitoring Network (PCDMN) disease info cards are available to help identify anthracnose symptoms
- In these areas it will be important to scout for disease symptoms and to use the available Fungicide Decision Support Checklist to determine field specific risk factors to make informed fungicide use decisions
